A number of FANYs provided hosting support at the annual International Women’s Day City Breakfast on Friday 8 March. Guests enjoyed a morning with journalist and ITV newsreader Julie Etchingham in the chair with a panel of distinguished speakers including, Her Honour Judge Anuja Ravindra Dhir QC and Commissioner London Fire Brigade, Dany Cotton QFSM. The event celebrated the contribution of women to the Square Mile with a particular focus on encouraging and supporting young people on their chosen career pathway and brought new ideas and inspiration.
Over the last 11 years the International Women’s Day City Breakfasts have raised over £270,000 for Refuge – a wonderful achievement for which Refuge is most grateful. Since opening the world’s first refuge 46 years ago the charity has been saving and rebuilding the lives of thousands of women and children who experience domestic violence every year. The Corps was also very grateful for a donation from the funds raised in acknowledgement of the support provided in response to recent terrorist incidents.
