Volunteers Week 2020 - supporting the Westminster Coroner

The FANY (PRVC) provided essential call handling, data management and administrative support to the Westminster Coroners' offices as part of the COVID-19 response, building on a long-term relationship for the Corps.

Earlier this year, Professor Fiona Wilcox, Westminster Coroner, praised the FANYs for their work in 2017. Commenting on the Corps, she said, “I just wanted to express my gratitude for the immense support given to the office. As always the FANY were invaluable, professional and appropriate."

Vicky provided support during the COVID-19 pandemnic, and has shared the following thoughts on her involvement:

"I’ve been honoured enough to work for Professor Wilcox and her extraordinary team twice. Once for two weeks in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tragedy, and more recently for a month supporting the COVID-19 Pandemic Multi Agency Response Team.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, the FANY supported remotely; logging in from home either due to child care, work commitments or because we were shielding ourselves. Once again showing our flexibility and ability to support under any circumstance.

"The teamwork behind the 27 FANYs supporting the Coroner was brilliant to see, from the newest members of the Corps to those who have been members for many years. A multitude of skills were needed, varying from communication to computing, and as always, I was proud to be part of an organisation made up of women with so much to offer during difficult times."
