During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Corps assisted the National Emergencies Trust (NET) Coronavirus Appeal. This was a new role for the Corps, which involves us providing appeal trackers and communications support.
The NET is an independent charity that collaborates with charities and other bodies to raise and distribute money at the time of a domestic disaster. It was established in 2019, in response to the Charity Commission recommendation following the series of emergencies in 2017.
This is its first appeal since it launched last year. FANYs provided fundraising, administrative, and communications support for the Trust to ensure that it could provide essential funding for charities and organisations to ensure that they could continue providing vital services in their local communities.
Charlotte provided communications support, and has shared her thoughts below:
“As the true impact of the pandemic was felt across the country, working with the organisation to provide immediate and life-saving support, felt very positive.With my background in communications, working with the NET’s Communications Team to assist local communities in managing the changes needed to keep everyone safe and protected, was a really constructive use of my skills and expertise.
“I am really pleased that I was able to help in some small way, and it was really encouraging to learn about the hundreds of smaller organisations who were really helping their communities across the UK; it was inspiring to hear so many positive stories of individuals making a difference across their communities to help others.”
