Volunteers Week 2020 - supporting the City of London Police

During #VolunteersWeek2020 we will be showcasing a range of voluntary support that we provide to demonstrate the capabilities of the Corps and explain more about the range of training that all members complete to support civil and military authorities in times of crisis.

The FANY (PRVC) provided extra resilience and bandwidth to the City of London Police (CoLP) Covid-19 response with daily loggist support.

As an essential part of crisis management, logs may be used as evidence in any future review or legal proceedings, and logging is one of the core skills that FANY volunteers specialise in. Loggists support key management roles by recording information received, when decisions were made, and actions taken in real time. CoLP Senior Police Staff Manager, Melissa Dark said: "The logging and admin support the FANY have provided has been invaluable."

Helena was one of the volunteers who assisted with this loggist support, and said:

“I volunteered as a Loggist with the City of London Police as they rolled out their response to the pandemic, alongside a range of other agencies. The role was fast-paced, ever-changing and totally different from my normal job. It was great to feel like I was helping, even in a very small way. The people I worked with were inspiring in their stamina and their dedication to doing their work under very difficult circumstances.”
