FANY support NHS Nightingale Hospital

FANY (PRVC) are providing essential operational support to help establish Nightingale Hospital as part of the UK response to COVID-19. The Corps first helped set up and staff hospitals during the First World War, today we are working alongside NHS staff and the British Army by filling key roles in the NHS Site Operations Room at the ExCel Centre, London.

Nightingale Hospital is a makeshift 4,000-bed “field hospital” and will be staffed by a combination of NHS staff and some military medical personnel. Its first patients are expected to potentially arrive next week.

Similar plans have been announced by the Government for Birmingham and Manchester.

Centenary of the birth of Violette Szabo GC

On the centenary of the birth of Violette Szabo, members of the Corps and a socially-distant crowd turned out to celebrate Szabo's life. Wreaths were laid at the cenotaph in Builth Wells, where Szabo's daughter Tania lives. At the picnic that followed, Tania told Corps members stories from her mother's life, and danced along to 1940s music hits in the park.
