The mission of the Corps is to provide volunteers, trained and capable of supporting Civil and Military authorities, within the United Kingdom during any major emergency, incident, or in planning, so as to protect life and relieve human suffering.

OUR STRUCTURE

We are the world's longest established uniformed 'military' voluntary organisation for women. Today we are the only all women unit left in the UK.

The Corps is on the Army list, but not part of the Army. We use the Army rank structure, and we are an officer Corps, but we neither train at Sandhurst nor do we hold the King's commission.

All members of the Corps are volunteers. We do not get paid for our work, in fact, we have to pay an annual subscription to be Corps members (as well as maintaining a specified level of training).

HRH The Princess Royal is our Commandant in Chief. Since 1999, when Her Royal Highness kindly gave permission to use her title the Corps has been renamed FANY (Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps), commonly abbreviated to FANY (PRVC).

OUR TRAINING

The Corps offers a wealth of new experiences through which members can broaden their horizons. The weekly training evenings provide a stimulating and motivating environment for Members to learn new transferable skills as well as enhance existing ones. Our trainers encourage members to participate in all of the training on offer, regardless of ability or experience.

The in-depth training ensures that members have the necessary level of skills and confidence to provide assistance at times of crisis. Our training programme includes major incident response skills, debriefing, first aid, map reading, navigation and orienteering, radio communications, leadership and teamwork skills, weapons, self defence and much, much more.
