Our Training

The Corps offers a wealth of new experiences where you can broaden your horizons and enrich your life. The training evenings provide a stimulating and motivating environment for members to learn new skills as well as develop old ones. Trainers encourage members to participate in all of the training on offer, regardless of ability or experience.

Weekly training nights (based in Central London) ensure that members obtain the necessary level of skills to provide assistance at times of crisis. The training programme includes; Major Incident Response, First Aid, Map Reading, Navigation & Orienteering, Radio Communications, Weapons Handling, self defence and much, much more.

Major Incident Response

All members receive professional training from police authorities so that they can respond to enquiries received from members of the public in response to a major incident. In addition to this training some Corps members go on to receive advanced training so that they can operate effectively at the scene of an incident.

First Aid

All members are trained in basic First Aid and hold a first aid qualification. Many members of the Corps develop this skill further through attending a range of courses offered by a variety of organisations leading to further qualifications.

Map Reading, Navigation & Orienteering

Being able to read a map, navigate and find your route with a compass are essential FANY skills. Training is undertaken in inner-city and remote environments. Following basic training there are opportunities to take further qualifications in this area.

Radio Communications

FANY are trained in basic RT, net radio, Airwave, Army watch-keeping and briefing skills. These skills are essential as they are often used during an emergency.

Opportunities are offered to gain confidence in handling a variety of weapons.
