Remembering Yvonne Burney

Yvonne Burney, who sadly died aged 95 on 28 October, was the youngest female SOE agent to be parachuted into wartime France where she organised one of the largest daylight air drops of arms to the resistance, before being betrayed, arrested by the Gestapo, and sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp.

Burney (previously Baseden) was appointed MBE and the French government awarded her the Croix de Guerre and later the Legion of Honour.

You can read her full obituary here.
